Monday’s two-hour meeting with former President Goodluck Jonathan was described as a “consultation,” but Peter Obi did not arrive alone.
He was accompanied by a delegation that included former governors Okwesilize Nwodo and Achike Udenwa, as well as Senators Ben Obi and Victor Umeh.
The meeting brought together several prominent South East political figures in the same room.
Afterwards, Obi told reporters that any endorsement would only come after a party primary. He is currently seeking the ADC presidential ticket for 2027, marking a shift away from the Labour Party under which he ran in 2023.
During the visit, Obi praised Jonathan’s record on “free and fair” elections.
Jonathan, who governed Nigeria from 2010 to 2015, has often been referenced in discussions about electoral credibility.
The meeting adds to a series of recent political engagements involving Obi and former national figures.
He has continued to meet stakeholders across different regions as preparations toward the 2027 election cycle take shape.
